Picadillo

Filipino picadillo is a comforting, homestyle dish made with ground meat simmered in a savory tomato-based sauce with potatoes, carrots, and peas. Ingredients

5 servings
  • ground pork — 1.5 lb
  • yellow onion — 1 piece (medium)
  • garlic — 4 clove
  • diced tomato — 14 oz
  • Raisins — 0.50 cup
  • beef broth — 1 cup
  • cubed potatoes — 1 piece (carrots)
  • cubed — 2 piece
  • frozen green peas — 0.75 cup
  • olive oil — 3 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pot and sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
  2. Add the ground porkand cook until lightly browned.
  3. Stir in the tomatoes, beef broth, and raisins. Bring to a boil, cover, and cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Add the olives, carrots, potato, and peas. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper, cook a few minutes more, then transfer to a serving dish.
